District winners are chosen by fellow superintendents for their leadership, professional accomplishments, and impact on students and schools. Dr. Hanna will now be considered, along with seven other district honorees, for the 2026 Indiana Superintendent of the Year, which will be announced later this month.
Dr. Hanna has led Rossville Consolidated since 2000, guiding the district’s 955 students in a unique single-campus PK–12 setting. His leadership has emphasized academic rigor, personalized learning, and safety. Under his guidance, Rossville has strengthened dual credit opportunities through the Indiana College Core, allowing students to graduate with up to 39 transferable college credits. He has also prioritized safety, establishing strong emergency protocols and maintaining a dedicated school police department.
Beyond his district, Dr. Hanna has been an influential leader across Indiana. Within IAPSS, he has served on the Executive Committee and chaired the District III Superintendents, as well as contributing to the Election, Professional Development, and Distinguished Service Committees. He is also an officer of the Indiana Superintendent’s Legal Defense Fund and chair of the Indiana State School Bus Committee, where he has advanced statewide discussions on student transportation and safety.
Dr. Hanna frequently shares his expertise at state and national conferences, presenting on topics ranging from fostering teacher retention to leveraging technology for safer student transportation. His leadership extends deeply into the community as well.
“Dr. Hanna exemplifies the steady, student-centered leadership that strengthens schools and communities alike,” said an IAPSS colleague. “His commitment to academic excellence, safety, and community partnerships makes him a deserving recipient of this honor.”
Reflecting on the recognition, Dr. Hanna said, “I am humbled to be recognized by my colleagues. This award reflects the hard work of our students, staff, families, and community members who make Rossville a truly special place to learn and grow.”
