Two Suspects Arrested In July 3 I-65 Shooting In Whitestown

Following an in-depth investigation that consisted of numerous interviews, the execution of multiple search warrants and collaborations with fellow law enforcement agencies alongside the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office, Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department Detectives were reportedly successful in their investigation of the July 3 shooting on Interstate 65.

The Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department released a statement on Thursday regarding the arrest of two individuals that are believed to be involved in the shooting that occurred in Whitestown on Interstate 65 on July 3, James Brown, 44, of Indianapolis and Kendra Johnson-Brown, 44, of Indianapolis.

The department stated that Brown was identified as the individual who shot into a semi with a firearm, which reportedly struck the driver, resulting in serious bodily injury for the victim. Reports show that Brown was arrested by Whitestown officers and members of the Indianapolis Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force on July 25. Brown is reportedly being held at the Boone County Jail pending preliminary charges of attempted homicide, Level 1 Felony, aggravated battery, Level 3 Felony, criminal recklessness, Level 5 Felony, and reckless driving, Class 3 Misdemeanor.

Johnson-Brown was reportedly arrested and is being held at the Boone County Jail pending preliminary charges of aggravated battery, Level 3 Felony, Criminal Recklessness, Level 5 Felony and reckless driving, Class 3 Misdemeanor, for her role in the shooting as well.

“This case is s testament to the diligent investigative work and efforts to put in after the initial call by our CID to ensure the safety of our community and that justice is served,” the department released. “We would also like to specifically thank the IMPD VCTF, Indiana State Police, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General for their assistance and collaborative work on this investigation and arrest.”

The department released a statement regarding the victim of the shooting, stating that he is continuing to heal and recover from critical injuries sustained in the incident.
