Sue Ann (Lipp) Wheeler, 90, a longtime Centerville, Ind. resident, died June 30, 2024 at University Place, West Lafayette, Ind. She was born June 13, 1934 in Frankfort to the late Thomas S. & Helen L. (Curtis) Lipp. She married Dale E. Wheeler on July 20, 1952 in Frankfort at the First Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on September 27, 1989.
Sue was a 1952 graduate of Frankfort High School. She had lived in Centerville since 1969. Together with her husband Dale, they opened Wheelers Antiques in Centerville in 1970, located on Historic US Highway 40. Sue took delight working alongside her son Scott, until May of this year, when she became ill. Sue had lived in Manhattan, Kansas, and Lafayette, Louisiana, while Dale was in the Military, before returning to Indiana. She was of the Methodist faith. Sue was a member of the Main Street Merchants Association in Centerville and won the Lion’s Club Outstanding Community Citizen Award in 2009.
She is survived by her sons: Scott Wheeler of Centerville and Jeff Wheeler of Centerville, sister: Linda Firestone of West Lafayette, nieces: Melissa Hodson-Ostler (Husband Gary) of Frankfort, Jayne Bush (Husband Mike) of Elgin, IL, and Sally Wheeler Bivians of Albuquerque, NM, 2 great-nephews: Levi & Alejandro Ostler of Frankfort
Funeral Services:
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5th at Green Lawn Memorial Park, State Road 39 South, Frankfort. Shan Sheridan will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centerville Abington Senior Center, 111 S. 2nd St., Centerville, IN 47330. Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S.
