Ten Rossville High School choral students made school history on Thursday, November 20, as they became the first group from the building to participate in the IMEA All-Region Choir Festival, held at the University of Indianapolis. Joining more than 100 high school vocalists from across Indiana, the students spent the day immersed in a fast-paced, musically rich environment that challenged them artistically and broadened their collaborative skills.
Under the direction of Dr. Andrew Crow, Director of Choral Activities at Ball State University, participants tackled an ambitious and stylistically varied repertoire. The festival offered not only a chance to work with one of the state’s most respected choral educators but also a space for young musicians to meet peers from different communities, share perspectives, and experience the unique camaraderie that emerges from collective music-making.
Rossville Choral Director Jordan Buck expressed optimism about what this milestone means for the program’s future. He noted that experiences like All-Region are “vital to students’ growth in musicianship” and help them gain confidence working alongside students from diverse backgrounds. Senior participant Lillian Black echoed that enthusiasm, calling the festival “so much fun” and expressing gratitude for the chance to take part.
This event underscores the essential role Fine Arts play in a well-rounded education and reflects the Rossville community’s strong support of meaningful, high-impact opportunities for its students.
