Trustees also reviewed revisions to the district’s attendance policy, part of a routine process of updating policies to remain in line with state requirements and district goals.

Superintendent Dr. Jim Hanna presented an overview of the district’s four primary funds, Education, Operations, Debt Service, and Rainy Day, totaling more than $11 million in projected 2026 expenditures. The Education Fund, supporting teacher and staff salaries and classroom needs, accounts for the largest share at $6.67 million. Operations are projected at $3.29 million, Debt Service at $1.56 million, and the Rainy Day Fund at $185,000. The Board voted to advertise the 2026 budget, School Bus Replacement Plan, and 2026–2028 Capital Projects Plan through the Indiana Department of Local Government and Finance. A public budget hearing is scheduled for October 7 at 7 p.m.

In other action, the Board approved a new AWS Welding Certification program in partnership with the Learning Network and Clinton County Adult Education. The seven-week evening course will run from October 20 to December 13 at Rossville Middle/Senior High School. Instructor Jesse Davis will lead students through 70 hours of hands-on training and a certification exam, providing participants with a workforce credential valued across industries.

Board members also recognized Superintendent Hanna’s upcoming role at the AASA 2026 National Conference on Education in Nashville, where he will present “Beyond the Lockdown: A Holistic Approach to School Safety.” His presentation will showcase Rossville’s efforts to strengthen school safety while highlighting national best practices.

Additional business included approval of recent transfer student enrollments and the disposal of obsolete equipment no longer in use. The meeting concluded with reports on field trips and conference requests before adjournment.
