Rossville Clamps Down Defensively on Covington for Girls’ Basketball Victory

Rossville limited Covington to 12 points over the final three quarters on its way to a 43-27 non-conference girls’ basketball victory Saturday afternoon.

Rossville, which led 16-15 after the first quarter, was led by Addi Gobett with 15 points. Ava Burkle added 13 points.

Burkle and Allie Elliott each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Cortney Huffman scored seven points and had a team-high seven steals. Burkle added four steals and three assists.

Friday night at Taylor, Rossville scored 54 first-half points to defeat Taylor 78-40.

Elliott led three players in double figures with 26 points.. Burkle was next with 19 and Chloe Darnell had 14. Gobett added nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Huffman led the team in assists with six.

Rossville Boys Drop Pair

Sheridan outscored Rossville 41-35 in the second half en route to a 78-71 non-conference boys’ basketball Saturday at Sheridan.

Charlie Thompson led the Hornets with 25 points, Brayden Thiele-Hahn tallied 22 and Jordan Skiles added 19. Caden Wilson led in rebounds with nine. Thompson and Cooper Dunn both had a team-high three steals. Thiele-Hahn had a team-high four assists.

On Friday night, Taylor outscored Rossville 40-24 in the middle two quarters on its way to a 68-46 victory.

Skiles led Rossville with 22 points. Wilson added 11 points and a team-high five rebounds.

Frankfort Girls Lose Twice

Despite stealing the ball 15 times and forcing Lebanon into 20 turnovers, the Lady Dogs fell to Lebanon 45-14 Friday night in Case Arena.

FHS was led in scoring by Ella McAtee and Saira Flores, Vannessa Guardado had a team-high eight rebounds. McAtee, Guardado and Ashley Vasquez-Rivera all had four steals apiece for FHS.

Tuesday night in West Lafayette, Frankfort lost to West Lafayette 68-21. As a team, the Lady Dogs collected 10 steals.

McAtee led the team in scoring eight points. Guardado was next with seven and had a team-high 10 rebounds.
