Pardon Our Dust: New Projects Underway At FMS

Exterior brick removal

This summer marks the beginning of significant construction projects at Frankfort Middle School (FMS), aimed at enhancing facilities and creating a better environment for students and staff. The ambitious plan includes expanding the student cafeteria, adding a new performing arts center, renovating classroom spaces, and constructing a secure entrance, which has necessitated moving the administrative offices to the front of the building.

The new performing arts center is a highlight of the project. Contractors are placing a strong emphasis on the seating arrangements and the multipurpose functionality of the auditorium. The first four rows will feature fixed seating, while the back rows will have collapsible seats. These collapsible seats will integrate seamlessly into the floor, transforming the space into an area nearly the size of a basketball court, suitable for various activities. The auditorium is designed to accommodate over 600 people, perfect for the large-scale concerts and events held at FMS throughout the year.

Construction activities are currently in full swing. The foundation for the new performing arts center is being laid, signaling the start of this exciting development. Additionally, classrooms that were previously separated by movable partition walls are now being outfitted with permanent walls. At the front of the building, work has commenced on creating a secure  entry area. This includes the removal of exterior bricks to make way for the new structure.

The community eagerly anticipates the completion of these projects in the fall of 2026, which promise to bring substantial improvements to FMS. These enhancements will not only provide better facilities but also ensure a safer, more functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for everyone at the school. We look forward to witnessing the amazing transformations once the construction is completed.
