The Lebanon Public Library has invited community members interested in preserving family history and sentimental items and documents to attend the “Top 10 Dos and Don’ts for Preserving Family Memorabilia” talk with a renowned genealogist next week.
The library announced the event slated for July 9 at 2 p.m. on the top floor of the library featuring Genealogy Educator Katherine Wilson, who will be visiting the library for the free, on-hour course on preserving family memorabilia. The program does not require registration to attend.
“This one-hour presentation focuses on the various ways of preserving family memorabilia for generations to come,” the library released. “We will discuss the organizing and storing of photos, including digital, newspaper clippings, correspondence, books, textiles and more.”
The special guest speaker, Wilson, hails from Dexter, Michigan and acts as an engaging and dynamic genealogy lecturer at regional national event while continuing her passion of being a full-time researcher for private clients and acting as a genealogy educator, which she has pursued for over 25 years.
Wilson is the founder and past President of the Virtual Genealogical Association, past President of the Michigan Genealogical Council and a past board member for the Association of Professional Genealogists.
Wilson has coordinated and taught courses for Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy that surrounded a focus on America’s westward expansion.
The event kicks off on Tuesday, July 9 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the large meeting room on the top floor of the Lebanon Public Library at 104 E. Washington St. in Lebanon.
