The Frankfort Lady Hot Dogs are gearing up for their matchup against North Montgomery after a recent loss against Western last Friday. Matt Crawford, Frankfort Physical Education Teacher, released statements regarding the game, stating that while the game ended with an 80 to 9 defeat for the Lady Hot Dogs varsity team, the athletes have maintained their positive attitudes that will continue to be seen in the game against North Montgomery.

For the Friday evening games against Western, a new player, Rachel Garcia, played her first game for the junior varisty half, and the team played a fast and controlled game despite the ending result of a loss to Western.

“In only their second half of action this season, the JV Hot Dogs played hard defensively while getting multiple deflections and open looks on offense,” Crawford wrote. “The JV Hot Dogs ultimately ended up getting beat, but their improvement is something to (be) proud of.”

Crawford continued to state that the varsity Lady Hot Dogs maintained their positive attitude and sportsmanship despite the score as team members returned to the court from injuries while other team members were cheering on the varsity team due to ongoing injuries.

“In the Varsity game, the score simply did not reflect how enthusiastic and energetic our effort was,” Crawford wrote. “What continues to amaze us with this group of ladies is that no matter what is going on, we continue to compete, continue to play hard and continue to strive to get better.”

Crawford stated that the team has shown a level of dedication to improvement and maintaining positive attitudes throughout the beginning of the season, and the team hopes that the extra practice and optimism will lead to successful games as the season progresses.

“We continue to get players who stay after practice to shoot and work on their game a couple of times per week, and we even had one player come in this morning to get extra shots up,” Crawford wrote. “Some highlights of the game were Saira Flores with six rebounds, Ashley Vasquez-Rivera with six deflections and Vannessa Guardado leading us in assists.”

The Frankfort Lady Hot Dogs tip off against North Montgomery at Case Arena at 7:30 p.m. and at HoosierlandTV.com. This stream has been made possible by Encompass Credit Union.
