Frankfort Parks & Recreation Seeks Proposals for 2026 Downtown Flower Watering Program

The City of Frankfort Parks & Recreation Department is inviting qualified vendors to submit proposals for the 2026 downtown flower care program. This seasonal contract will focus on watering, pest control, and fertilization of floral displays in public spaces, including Prairie Creek Park and designated state highways in the downtown area.

The program includes daily watering of 150 hanging baskets, 51 flowerpots, and nine planters throughout the downtown floral areas, with operations beginning May 11, 2026 and continuing for 144 days (with additional days added for missed watering due to rain). Applicants are also expected to provide two pesticide applications — one in the last week of July and another approximately two weeks later — to help maintain plant health and control pests.

Interested professionals should describe their experience in grounds keeping and include a detailed proposal outlining their staffing plan and equipment to be used. While vendors must supply their own equipment and labor, the City will provide water for the program.

Proposals must be submitted to the Parks Department office at 1 Adrian Marks Drive no later than 3:00 p.m. on March 23, 2026. The City reserves the right to follow up with additional questions, adjust contract terms, or reject any and all proposals.

Prairie Creek Park, one of Frankfort’s eight city parks managed by the Parks & Recreation Department, is a focal point of community activity, offering amenities like a splash pad, playground, performance stage, and the Encompass Event Center.
