Community Foundation Awards Grant to Mulberry Police Department for Life-Saving Equipment

The Community Foundation Serving Howard, Clinton & Carroll Counties

The Community Foundation Serving Howard, Clinton & Carroll Counties has awarded a grant to the Mulberry Police Department to support the purchase of critical emergency response equipment that will help officers better serve and protect the community.

The grant funding will be used to purchase a new Motorola portable radio and three Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), which will be placed in patrol vehicles and at police headquarters. The equipment is intended to enhance emergency response capabilities and provide officers with additional tools when responding to life-threatening situations.

On May 27, Emerald Blankenship, Senior Vice President of the Community Foundation, presented the grant award to Jason Albaugh, Town Marshal of the Mulberry Police Department.

Because law enforcement officers are often among the first responders to arrive at medical emergencies, having immediate access to AEDs can significantly improve outcomes for individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

“Having these life-saving tools readily available in our patrol vehicles allows us to step in immediately during a cardiac emergency. It is one more vital way we can protect and serve our community,” Albaugh said. “The Mulberry Police Department is deeply grateful to the Clinton County Community Foundation for their ongoing commitment to public safety.”

Foundation officials said the investment reflects their commitment to supporting local public safety efforts and ensuring first responders have the resources necessary to serve area residents effectively.

By equipping officers with enhanced communication technology and readily accessible AEDs, the grant will help improve emergency response times and provide potentially life-saving care when every second matters.
