Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center has an expanded medical facility and “boutique” at 1746 East Wabash Street in Frankfort, offering free pregnancy services and baby supplies to families in Clinton, Boone, Carroll, Howard Counties and beyond.

The faith-based nonprofit, part of a regional network serving Illinois and Indiana, provides pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STI/STD testing, parenting classes, mentoring and material assistance such as clothing and diapers at no charge to clients. Staff and volunteers say the goal is to give women and families a safe, confidential place to explore pregnancy options, receive accurate information and get practical help without feeling pressured toward any decision.
Updated space, local access
The Frankfort center sits just off Wabash Street, across from McDonald’s, and is open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for walk‑ins and appointments. Inside, the recently updated space includes a designated nurse’s office, counseling areas and a children’s “boutique” where parents can select donated baby clothing and supplies.

Living Alternatives operates 12 locations across Illinois and northwest Indiana, with Frankfort and Kokomo serving as the primary Indiana sites. “We want this center to feel welcoming and practical for young families in our community,” a staff member said during a recent tour.
Free medical and counseling services
The organization describes itself as a 501(c)(3) funded by individuals, churches and local businesses, allowing all services to be offered at no cost. At the Frankfort center, services include pregnancy testing, ultrasound scanning, options information, H.O.P.E. pregnancy and parenting mentoring, STI and STD testing, and after‑abortion support.

“We are a faith‑based organization committed to honoring God by providing excellent care, compassionate support and honest information to those facing pregnancy decisions,” the center’s mission statement reads. “We believe women deserve to be treated with respect and compassion, giving her the time and space to make her decision without pressure or coercion.”
Brochures at the site emphasize five promises to clients: to treat them with respect, protect their privacy, not pressure them, support them, and provide honest information. “Our desire is simply to walk alongside them, offering support and encouragement as they take their next step,” the organizational overview states.
Material help: Boutique and diaper pantry
In addition to medical and counseling services, the center offers material assistance to parents through its on‑site boutique and diaper pantry. Racks of infant and toddler clothing fill one room, while baskets hold blankets, toys and other baby items available through the center’s mentoring and education programs.
A nearby storage area is stocked floor‑to‑ceiling with labeled bags of diapers in multiple sizes, which are distributed to families as they participate in classes and appointments. “We want to remove as many of the barriers as possible which negatively impact our clients’ pregnancy decisions,” a Living Alternatives residential‑program statement notes, citing housing and financial stability as key needs for many young parents.
Programs for difficult situations
Printed materials at the center describe a range of programs for women experiencing unplanned pregnancy, considering adoption, or dealing with the loss of a baby or past abortion. Living Alternatives offers post‑abortion support groups, perinatal grief support and referrals to residential programs in Illinois for young mothers needing longer‑term housing and counseling.

The organization also has available “abortion pill reversal,” a protocol using the hormone progesterone for women who have taken the first drug in a chemical abortion and quickly change their minds. The brochure states that the network of medical professionals is “ready 24/7 to help women at a moment’s notice — giving their baby a second chance.”

For Clinton, Carroll and Boone County residents, staff say the center’s role is to provide local, confidential support close to home. “Wherever families are in their pregnancy journey, we’re the next step,” one brochure explains.
