In honor of America’s 250 years as a nation, the Frankfort Community Public Library (FCPL) is pleased to announce a new monthly book club for teens and adults called Liberty Lit Society. Participants will read and discuss books about the Revolutionary War, the nation’s founding, and individuals who were instrumental in the fight for independence and establishing America’s government. The Liberty Lit Society will meet at 10 a.m. on FCPL’s lower level on the third Saturday of every month, starting Jan. 17.
The society’s first read of the year will be David McCullough’s masterful book, “1776.” The work focuses on events surrounding the start of the Revolutionary War. While the book revolves mostly around the leadership (and often indecisiveness) of George Washington, McCullough also gave considerable attention to King George III, Nathanael Greene, William Howe, and Henry Knox.
To get the complete list of the books the society will be reading in 2026, stop by FCPL’s circulation or reference desk. For more information, contact Bessie Shepherd at (765) 654-8746, ext. 1140 or bessies@myfcpl.org. ###
