Delphi Police Department Chief Nathan LaMar successfully completed the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Police Chief Executive Training Program from April 15 through April 19 to continue his service to the Delphi community.
The City of Delphi announced that Chief LaMar completed the training to ensure that every Indiana citizen and visitor remains safe in the Delphi area. The training is designed to provide information and topics to newly-appointed police chiefs throughout the state to ensure that they are best equipped to serve their city police department or their metropolitan police department.
“In 1987, the Indiana Legislature passed legislation for the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board to adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to establish an Executive Training Program for newly-appointed Chiefs,” the city released. “The Law Enforcement Training Board established the Police Chief Executive Training Program under 250 IAC 2-5-1.”
According to the city, the program delves deep into the topics related to safety and instruction for the department and beyond as future officers are added to the force and responsibilities of chiefs evolve.
“The Police Chief Executive Training Program includes topics in the areas of liability issues in the area of use-of-force, firearms, and emergency vehicle operation, along with media relations, policy making, discipline, accounting/administration, labor laws, cultural diversity and other department and/or administrative programs,” the city released.
LaMar is one of an extensive class of chiefs that graduated from the class this April.
