The Frankfort Redevelopment Commission agreed to have a two-person committee in place to help them with property acquisitions when they become available.
RDC Chairman Joe Palmer said the committee would be comprised of himself and either John Virtue or Eric Woods, whoever might be available.
“Our goal is to try to make the best decision on what go in there in the future,” said Palmer. “The Redevelopment Commission has that ability whereas if it just sits there or its acquired on a tax sale or something like that, some people can just put anything they want in there as long as it is within in the code.”
Palmer added they are trying to beautify the city starting with the two-block area around the Clinton County Courthouse.
In other action, in an attempt to make better use of their funds, the RDC agreed to make a change on their contract with the Reedy Financial Group, who handles the financials for the RDC.
“We get a monthly bill from them,” said Palmer. “They do a great job for us. But, we’re trying to be a little bit more conservative on our money. In this case, rather than have a report every month, sometimes quarterly would be better for us. Sometimes going month to month nothing changes.”
Palmer added they wanted to try this way and see how it goes. If it doesn’t go well, the RDC can go back and try to negotiate another deal.
