Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputy Dies After Being Electrocuted at Crash Site

A Hendricks County Sheriff’s deputy was killed overnight after being electrocuted while investigating a crash.

Deputy Fred Fislar was responding to a single vehicle accident around 11:50 p.m. Monday, north of County Road 300 South and State Road 267, north of Plainfield. A witness who saw the deputy was down, used Fislar’s radio to notify dispatchers a few minutes later.

Fislar was transported to the hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead before 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.

State Senator Brian Buchanan issued the following statement.

“Like many people, I was saddened to wake up to the news of the passing of Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputy Fred Fislar this morning,” said Buchanan. “Deputy Fislar dedicated his life to protecting the residents of Hendricks County, and I will be forever grateful for his service to the community. Today, and in the weeks ahead, I will continue to pray for Deputy Fislar’s family, loved ones and his fellow officers as they grieve this profound loss.”

Fislar had been with the department for two-and-a-half years. He leaves behind a wife and two young children,

The driver from the crash was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
