Eight Individuals Enshrined Into Frankfort Hot Dogs Alumni Hall of Fame

The Frankfort Hot Dog Alumni Hall of Fame officially enshrined eight new members Saturday afternoon in ceremonies at the Frankfort High School cafeteria.

This now brings the total in the Hot Dog Hall of Fame to 62 members for an organization that has been operating for only seven years.

“What a great class,” said Hall of Fame Chairman Don Stock. “To me, if I get anything out of sitting here and listening to all these folks come back, it’s the importance of a great community school.”

Five of this year’s members made it back, One honoree, Birdie Gunyon Meyer (Class of 1971) couldn’t make it back because a speaking engagement in Washington, D.C. Two posthumous honorees, past president of The Farmers Bank Tom Rohrabaugh (Class of 1953) and  three-time world horseshow champion Curt Day (Class of 1935), were also inducted.

Those present were pediatric hematologist, oncologist at Riley Children’s Hospital Jodi Skiles Commins (Class of 1997), director of collections and research for the National First Ladies Library Michelle Guillon (Class of 1979), Frankfort High School and Frankfort Middle School educator, assistant principal and principal Michael Kelley (Class of 1966), Marine Corps Fighter Pilot Travis Kelley (Class of 1991) and Gunyon, who is a internationally known expert and speakers in perinatal health. The lone honorary Hot Dog Award went to long-time educator, high school teacher and politician Jim Moyer, who graduated from Clay City High School in 1961 but has made Frankfort his home for the majority of his life.

“I’m so honored, I am humbled,” said Moyer. “I’ve had lots of honors in different parts of my life. But I think this is the one that is the most memorable.”

The Class of 2019: Alumni — Charles L. (Chuck) Aidman, Dr. Frank Beardsley, Lt. Gen. Jay Kelley, Dr. Patrick Kersey, Cindy Ward Wine Martinez, Karen McClain Miller, Jim H. Miner, Rawlings “Rawl” Ransom, Richard “Butch” Ricker, Ralph Vaughn. Honoree — John Milholland.

The Class of 2020: Alumni — Steve R. Adams, John Coulter, Phil E. DePoy, Perry Charles Lewis, Dr. David Moore, James Rogers, Jonelle Smith. Honoree — Katherine Howard.

The Class of 2021: Alumni — Dan Cougill, Thomas V. Ranson, Dr. Roger Frank Robison, Robert K. Ryan, Gina Lucas Sheets.

The Class of 2022: Chad Buntin, Kelly J. Good, Mary Gorham Herrick, Tom Miller, Lt. Colonel James (Jim) Rentschler, Mark Sawicki, Randall (Boe) Workman. Honoree — Steve Mullen.

The Class of 2023: Fred Carter, Dr. Lee F. Dupler, Nicole Rudolph, Dan “Bonz” Scott, Earl Carl (E.C.) Slipher,Vesto Melvin Slipher. Honoree — Clarence Warthan.
