The Clinton Prairie School Corporation went over the ILEARN state scores Monday night that were compiled by students in grades three through eight this past year.
“We’re starting to see us coming back to a more normal level,” said Clinton Prairie Superintendent Scott Miller. “Particularly pleased with our math scores and improvement in math and being in some classes 20 percent above the state average.”
Miller unveiled ILEARN expectations and goals for the test.
Yearly Expectation — CPSC students in grades 3-8 will achieve English/Language Arts and Math ILEARN scores that exceed the state average for these subject.
Annual Goal — CPSC students will achieve English/Language Arts and Math ILEARN scores that exceed the state average by 10% or more.
Long Term Goal — CPSC students will achieve English/Language Arts and Math ILEARN scores that exceed CPSC non free/reduced population average (60%).
Prairie’s fifth and seventh-graders both exceed the state average in math.
Miller admitted his students need to better in English, particularly in the writing part.
The board also named Erin Swinford as the new Dean of Student Services.
“We’re real excited,” said Miller. “Mrs. Swinford is a great educator and she’s knowledgeable. She has a wealth of experience. I think she’s going to do a great job of working with our students.”
The board also changed a couple of meeting dates for board meetings. The August 21 meeting has been moved to August 8 and the October 16 meeting has been changed to October 23.
