The Zionsville Police Department has announced that officers have received reports from community members that scammers are attempting to defraud community members by pretending to be an officer to obtain personal and sensitive information.
The department announced on Tuesday evening that they received reports of unknown individuals impersonating officers in an attempt to defraud community members of their funds. Detectives have been made aware of the scam and are actively investigating the reports.
The department issued a reminder that officers will never call to solicit funds from any individuals.
“Stay vigilant and protect yourself from scams,” the department released. “If you receive such a call, do not provide any personal information or money.”
Community members who may suspect that they are receiving a scam call are encouraged to report the incident to local authorities at 317-873-5967.
