Winter Weather Advisory in Effect from 4 P.M. Tonight Until 10 A.M. Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of central, north central, southwest and west central Indiana from 4 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday. Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of around one tenth of a inch. Isolated areas may receive higher ice accumulation so upwards of two tenths of an inch, Difficult travel conditions are possible, The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

Freezing rain overspreads the region from west to east Monday evening. Heaviest freezing rain rates expected during the overnight hours. Lower confidence exists in the transition time from freezing rain to rain as warmer air surges north Tuesday morning. This may not look like a classic freezing ran event with ice coating trees and powerlines. With warmer air coming in aloft, trees and powerlines may be ice free, while surfaces and untreated road remain icy.

Affected areas are Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Parke, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren counties.
