Wednesday Night Storms Cause Electrical Fires, Explosions, Outages In Delphi

The Delphi Fire Department announced that last night’s storms created a lot of damage throughout Delphi with countless trees and wires down throughout the town, which generated numerous calls for the fire department, but the most significant incident revolved around several electrical fires that disconnected power in the area.

The electrical fires were spotted on North Street near US 421, and the department was made to wait for Duke to disconnect power in the area to address the fires. A large electrical explosion was also heard in the area.

“It is a great reminder of how powerful and dangerous a downed power line can be,” the department released. “Thank you to our dispatchers, who managed all of the 911 calls while still getting us everything we needed. Also a big thanks to Camden Fire and Flora Fire for always being there when we need you. Also assisting was Delphi PD, Carroll County SD, Carroll County EMA and Delphi Public Works.”
