Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter has announced the reassignment of Trooper Jared McQueary to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, where he will serve as a School Bus Safety Officer. This reassignment follows Trooper McQueary’s successful completion of a competitive promotion process, which included a written test, an oral interview, and a comprehensive evaluation of his work performance.

Trooper McQueary, a native of Tippecanoe County, graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 2008. Following high school, he attended Ivy Tech Community College, earning an associate degree in criminal justice in 2010. After completing his studies, Trooper McQueary began his career with the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post, serving as the District Mechanic until 2013.

In 2014, Trooper McQueary graduated from the 73rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was assigned to the Lafayette District. Shortly after, in 2015, he was selected to join the Indiana State Police K-9 program, completing the K-9 Academy alongside his partner, K-9 Jordy. Trooper McQueary has served as a dedicated K-9 handler ever since, utilizing his specialized training to enhance public safety and law enforcement operations.

In addition to his work as a K-9 handler, Trooper McQueary has been a valued member of the Indiana State Police Honor Guard and has served as a Field Training Officer, mentoring new recruits and contributing to the professional development of fellow troopers.

In his new role as a School Bus Safety Officer, Trooper McQueary will focus on promoting the safety of students and school buses across Indiana. His responsibilities include collaborating with school corporations, bus drivers, and the community to ensure adherence to safety regulations, investigating school bus-related incidents, and educating the public on the importance of school bus safety. A critical part of his role will involve conducting annual inspections of school buses to ensure they are safe for all students across the state. Trooper McQueary’s extensive experience, dedication, and commitment to public safety make him a valuable addition to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.

The Indiana State Police congratulates Trooper McQueary on this well-deserved reassignment and thanks him for his continued service to the citizens of Indiana.
