A routine traffic stop based on multiple infractions led to the arrest and filing of preliminary charges for two Boone County men in Colfax on Sunday morning, authorities say.
On Sunday, Aug. 25, just before 9 a.m., Clinton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Nevin Creasy reportedly performed a routine traffic stop on a tan 1998 Chevrolet truck that performed multiple traffic infractions in the area of 100 E. Park St. in Colfax.
According to authorities, an investigation was conducted where Creasy located multiple illicit substances that led to the arrest and filing of preliminary charges for the driver of the vehicle and the passenger.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that driver John Brazil, 59, of Lebanon was preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle without financial responsibility prior, a Class C Misdemeanor.
Reports show that passenger Donald McCollum, 57, of Advance was preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony, possession of a narcotic, Level 6 Felony, and possession of a syringe, Level 6 Felony.
The Sheriff’s Office issues a reminder that all subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and official charges are pending review by the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
