The Frankfort Parks Department announced the receipt of a donation of several macaws from a local community member and his family following the loss of multiple birds in a theft case earlier this year.

On Monday, Aug. 5, the department announced that the TPA Park Aviary will feature several macaws once they have completed their necessary quarantine process due to generous support from Greg Summers and his family.

“Our community is incredibly blessed,” the department released. “We are deeply grateful that they have entrusted us with these beautiful birds.”

The department released that beginning this week, the petting zoo and aviary will be operating only on the weekends for the public to enjoy with hours set from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A special opening time will be scheduled for Monday, Sept. 2 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. for Labor Day.

Following the Labor Day opening, the petting zoo and aviary will be closed for the season.
