SafeZonesIN Initiative Moves To New Location

The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced the new SafeZonesIN initiative that is being relocated from I-70 in Greenfield to Clear Path in Marion County at the beginning of the year to continue attempting to address speeding and reckless driving in work zones.

The department stated that the initiative is operating on a five-year test pilot program that will sunset in 2028, and by statute, the program will consist of up to four worksites at any given time.

Violations will be issued for vehicles traveling 11 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit, and those in violation will be subject to civil penalties.

The area will be enforced by cameras that will take pictures of vehicle license plates, which will then see fines being mailed to those in violation.
