Ruby Louise Smith, 89, of Frankfort, passed away July 31, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born July 31, 1936 in Clinton County, IN to Guy Golden Ostler and Ruby Katherine (Elkins) Ostler Harrell. She was previously married to William Joseph Sexton and they later divorced. She then married Thomas G. Smith Jr. and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1983.
Ruby attended Frankfort High School. She worked for Delmonte and then Uni Electric for 19 years. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene and was a former member of the Eagles Lodge. Ruby enjoyed bingo, puzzle books and especially spending time with her family and friends.
Ruby is survived by her children, Richard (Joan Goetz) Sexton of Lafayette, William J. “Bill” (Deanna) Sexton of Rossville and Patricia “Patty” Sexton of Frankfort, step-children, Danny Smith, Tammy Smith, Linda Taylor, Joe Smith and Carrol Jackson, brother, Denny Harrell of Frankfort, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, sisters, Bertha Toney, Betty Toney and step-son, Bobby Smith.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort until time of service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.
