The Rossville wrestling team was voted in as one of the teams invited to compete at the 1A team state competition in January.
Rossville joins Eastside, Northfield, Switzerland County, Adams Central, Alexandria Monroe, Milan, North Miami, Rensselaer Central, Rochester, South Adams, and Tell City.
The event will be held at Adams Central on Jan. 11.
“We are super excited about having the honor to compete with the top 12 teams in 1A,” Rossville wrestling coach Thomas Lynch said. “This is our first ever trip to team state. Being invited to this tournament means that all the hard work that the wrestlers and coaches are putting on is starting to pay off. The excitement of wrestling at Rossville is at an all-time high and we are hungry to prove to everyone that we belong with the best in the state.”
The Hornets competed at the New Castle Invitational on Saturday, going 4-1 in their Duals with wins against Muncie Central, Eastern Hancock, Centerville, and Northeastern.
“We are now 13-2 on the season with our only losses coming from a 4A and another 1A state qualifying team,” Lynch said. “We have four guys ranked in the state and five guys ranked in the semi-state, which is our most ever.”
The Hornets will compete at the Willey Holiday Duals next weekend before preparing for team state on the 11th.
