The Subaru of Indiana Automotive Foundation, known as the SIA Foundation, presented the Red Barn Summer Theatre in Frankfort with a grant totaling just over $11,000 for its Spring Grant Cycle.

The foundation announced on Tuesday that 16 nonprofit organizations from nine counties in Indiana were awarded capital grants totaling $150,881.77, and the On Stage Foundation, also known as the Red Barn Summer Theatre, was selected out of 399 applicants to receive $11,143 for the purchase of new LED lighting for its upcoming summer season.

On Stage Foundation Board President Mike Bruton and Community Outreach Manager Bethany Sheets attended the ceremony Tuesday morning at Subaru to receive the grant award as the team continued to look toward its implementation of the lighting. As the world premiere of “Keep the Change” is set to debut tonight, Wednesday, June 12 at the Red Barn Summer Theatre, Director Luke McLaughlin stated that the LED lighting allows for more intricate lighting displays during the shows as well as a cooler atmosphere due to the lesser heat emitted by the on-stage lighting for both the actors’ and audiences’ comfort during the shows throughout the summer.

The SIA Foundation has awarded more than $3 million to fund nonprofit projects across Indiana since its establishment in 1997, and the newest recipients during the spring cycle included representatives in Boone, Clinton, Floyd, Fountain, Hamilton, Marion, Montgomery, Tippecanoe and White counties. The foundation awards grants twice annually to nonprofit organizations with on cycle in the spring and one set for the fall. Stipulations state that requests must exceed $1,000 and must be under the maximum ask of $15,000 to be considered for the capital funding for arts and culture, health and welfare or education projects.

“Thank you, Subaru of Indiana Automotive and the SIA Foundation,” Red Barn leaders released. “We appreciate your generosity and commitment to our community.”

Paul Phillippe Resource Center joins Red Barn Summer Theatre as another recipient of a grant during the cycle, receiving just over $10,000 for their renovation of the dining area into a rec room area.
