A driver reported for reckless driving on I-65 in Boone County was pronounced deceased at a hospital following deputy response that uncovered the Illinois man in medical distress.
On Nov. 8 just before 1 p.m., Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies reportedly received reports of a reckless driver traveling southbound on I-65 near the 145 mile marker.
Deputies reported that the vehicle driven by Jerry Tackett, 47, of Geneva, Illinois was observed swerving dangerously and posing a risk to other motorists before eventually pulling over to the side of the road near mile marker 143.
Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies reportedly discovered Tackett unresponsive and appearing to be suffering from a medical emergency, and emergency medical services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Tackett was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the cause of Tackett’s medical emergency.
