A familiar piece of Americana is taking shape on a downtown business wall as Perkins Signs of Lafayette works to bring a vintage Coca-Cola mural back to life.
The mural is being painted on the wall of Dalilah’s, located at the corner of Columbia and Washington streets, diagonally across from the former police station.
Perkins Signs, a Lafayette-based sign company, specializes in traditional hand-painted signs and pinstriping, gold and silver leafing, carved signs, vinyl graphics and more. The company’s work reflects the craftsmanship and artistry of traditional sign painting.
Local residents may recognize Perkins Signs from the company’s recent work on the TPA caboose, which was featured in a Clinton County story published Aug. 21.
Now, the company is turning its attention to the Coca-Cola mural, carefully recreating the look and character of vintage Coca-Cola advertising. The hand-painted artwork brings a nostalgic touch to the downtown area while showcasing a traditional form of sign craftsmanship.
The mural continues to take shape adding another colorful piece of history and artistry to the community.
