Nélida Carreño-Paz, de 70 años, residente de Frankfort, Indiana, partió a la presencia del Señor en paz el 24 de junio de 2026.
Nació el 22 de enero de 1956 en Guatemala, hija de Abel Paz-Rivera y Mercedes Carreto-Morales. El 1993 contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, Pedro Carreño, con quien compartió más de treinta años de amor, compañerismo y dedicación mutua.
Nélida fue una mujer trabajadora, amorosa y de profunda fe. Durante 25 años laboró en Zachary Confections, desde 1995 hasta su jubilación en 2020. Fue miembro fiel de la Primera Iglesia Bautista de Frankfort, donde fortaleció su relación con Dios y encontró consuelo y esperanza a lo largo de su vida. El Salmo 91 ocupó un lugar muy especial en su corazón y fue una fuente constante de fortaleza para ella.
Por encima de todo, Nélida amó a su familia. Fue una esposa ejemplar, una madre entregada, una abuela y bisabuela cariñosa, así como una hermana y amiga siempre dispuesta a brindar amor y apoyo. Su mayor felicidad era estar rodeada de sus seres queridos y ver crecer a las generaciones de su familia.
Le sobreviven su amado esposo, Pedro Carreño, de Frankfort; sus hijas, Dora Quintanilla (Omar Flores), Denise Carreño y Kary Carreño, todas de Frankfort; nueve nietos; dos bisnietos; sus hermanas, Esperanza Paz, Rafaela Paz y Rosa Paz; y su hermano, Valerio Paz.
Fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres y un hermano.
La familia recibirá a familiares y amigos el martes 30 de junio de 2026, de 11:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m., en Day & Genda Funeral Home de Frankfort. El servicio funeral se llevará a cabo a la 1:00 p.m., seguido por el sepelio en Green Lawn Cemetery.

Nelida Carreno-Paz, 70, of Frankfort, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026.
Born on January 22, 1956, in Guatemala, Nelida was the daughter of Abel Paz-Rivera and Mercedes Carreto-Morales. She married the love of her life, Pedro Carreno, in 1993, and together they shared over three decades of marriage.
A hardworking and devoted woman, Nelida was employed at Zachary Confections for 25 years, from 1995 until her retirement in 2020. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Frankfort and found great comfort in her faith throughout her life. Psalm 91 was a favorite scripture that held special meaning to her.
Above all else, Nelida cherished her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved and watching her family grow.
Surviving are her husband, Pedro Carreno of Frankfort; her children, Dora Quintanilla (Omar Flores) of Frankfort, Denise Carreno of Frankfort, and Kary Carreno of Frankfort; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Esperanza Paz, Rafaela Paz, and Rosa Paz; and her brother, Valerio Paz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm, at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
