Michigantown Youth League Receives $16,250 Grant For Revitalizing Fields

Earlier this year, the Michigantown Youth League announced that the community had the opportunity to support the league through raising funds for the fields the league utilizes to be revitalized alongside a matching grant from the Community Foundation Serving Howard, Clinton and Carroll Counties.

On Monday, Dec. 2, the foundation officially presented the restoration match grant in the amount of $16,250 to the league for the revitalization and resurfacing of the fields. The grant acted as a matching grant for the league.

During the fundraising effort, the league released a statement regarding the mission of the league.

“The objective of the Michigantown Youth League Organization is to implant in the youth of Michigantown and surrounding community’s ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and reverence so they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children who will grow to be good, clean, healthy adults,” the Board of Directors released. “We need your help for us to do this in the safest and most efficient way possible.”

The funding available through the fundraiser and the matching grant will be utilized to dig up all three infields, correct any drainage issues and lay new material down to provide a level, smooth ballfield with field conditioner that is easily accessible and affordable. The project will also consist of leveling low spots in the outfield.

Excess funds not utilized for the project will be utilized to fix or upgrade the bases, pitching machines, scoreboards and field maintenance equipment.
