Miami Man Sentenced To 63 Years For 2022 Homicide In White County

The White County Prosecutor’s Office released a statement regarding the sentencing of a Miami, Florida man for his involvement with an Interstate 65 homicide that occurred in 2022.

White County Superior Court Judge Brad Woolley officially sentenced Miguel Ibarguren, 44, of Miami, Florida to 63 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

On Oct. 8, Ibarguren convicted of the crime of Murder following a six-day trial in White Superior Court for his involvement in the murder of Aristides Garcia, 63, of Los Angeles, California in 2022.

The investigation into the case culminated in an extensive multi-state investigation headed by the Indiana State Police Detectives.

On March 8, 2022 just after 12 p.m., crews cleaning Interstate 65 reportedly called 911 after locating an unresponsive male near Interstate 65 at the 187.5 mile-marker around half a mile south of State Road 18. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene by the White County Coroner.

On March 10, the coroner conducted an autopsy and positively identified the male as Garcia, and the coroner reportedly ruled the manner of death to be a homicide. Following the positive identification, detectives reported that Garcia had been reported missing by his employer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after the semi-truck Garcia was driving was located.

During the investigation, detectives reportedly developed probable cause to arrest Ibarguren, Garcia’s co-driver for a national trucking company, and on March 13, 2022, a White County Judge issued a warrant for his arrest. Ibarguren was located in Arlington, Texas on March 15, 2022, and was taken into custody.

Ibarguren was charged with murder, a Class X Felony.
