Melvin J. Hanna, 85, of Thorntown, passed away December 2, 2025 in his home. He was born on April 7, 1940 at home in Boone County to Lawrence and Gladys (Warren) Hanna. He married Mary Ann Ruckel on November 17, 1962 in Frankfort and she survives.
A lifelong resident of Thorntown, Melvin was a 1958 graduate of Thorntown High School and was a self-employed farmer/butcher. He also worked for 20 years for Wabash National Corporation, retiring in 2010. He was a member of Zion Apostolic Church where he was a song leader. Farming and butchering were Melvin’s passion.
Surviving along with his wife, Mary Ann, are his son, Clint Hanna of Colfax, 8 grandchildren, and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Ginger Gregory who passed November 2023, a sister, and niece.
Friends may visit 4-7 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2025 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort. A funeral service with Brother Robert Hackler and Brother Jorge Orellana officiating will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at the funeral home.
