Mary King Wins Closely Contested Race for Clinton County Member At Large

The County Council Member At Large was the most hotly contested race of the Primary Election Tuesday night in Clinton County.

A total of seven individual challenged for the three available spots. The race was closely contested all evening between four individuals Mary King, Jeff Chynoweth, Mike Hensley and Tammy Danner. In the end, King won the race with 1,692 and won by 29 votes over Chynoweth, who finished with 1663. Hensley was third with 1620 votes and Danner took fourth with 1554. Others in the race were Chris Salaba with 1,094, Michelle Cox 1,093 and Glenn Wilson had 988.

The three that won were all incumbents.

Mike Braun  won the governor’s race over Suzanne Crouch. Brad Chambers wound up third and Eric Doden was fourth. Jamie Reitenour placed fifth and Curtis Hill was sixth.

For the two contested Clinton County Commissioner races, Bert Weaver was victorious over Justin Paschal in District 1 and Kevin Myers defeated Josh Uitts in the District 2 race.

In other races, Mark Genda dispatched Joe Sturm in Senate Representative race in District 41, Brian Buchanan won easily over Joseph Bookwalter  in the State Senator District 7 race and Heath VanNatter was uncontested in the State Representative District 38 race,

Jim Baird won a three-person race for U.S. Representative for District 4 against Charles Bookwalter and John Piper. Donald Trump easily defeated Nikki Haley for President on the Republican side and Joe Biden ran uncontested on Democrat side. Jim Banks ran uncontested for the U.S. Senator’s race.

Locally, all five races were uncontested. Winners were Brad Mohler (Circuit Court Judge 45th Circuit), Kialee Mitchell (County Recorder), Gina Brettnacker (County Treasurer), Ed Cripe (County Coroner) ad Dan Sheets (County Surveyor).

Precinct Committeeman winners were Larry Price (Precinct 1). Mark Timmons (Precinct 2), Clarence Warthan (Precinct 4), Judy Sheets (Precinct 10), John Large (Precinct 11), Sally Myers (Precinct 12), Jocelyn Oppelt (Precinct 13), Christopher Vawter (Precinct 14), Zach Light (Precinct 15), Jim Moyer (Precinct 16), Joseph Bookwalter (Precinct 17), Dana Myers (Precinct 18), San Payne (Precinct 19), Dan Sheets (Precinct 20). Michael Sexton (Precinct 21), Ashley Kelly (Precinct 22), Michael Perry (Precinct 23), Tom Marshall (Precinct 24),Walt Minnick (Precinct 25), Tracy Baber (Precinct 26), Lewis Wheeler (Precinct 27), Doug Marsh (Precinct 28), Rick Randolph (Precinct 29), Cindi Bush Davis (Precinct 30), Joni Sommer (Precinct 31), Scott Kimmel (Precinct 33), James Oliver (Precinct 34), Brendon Bright (Precinct 35), Jessica Vawter (Precinct 36) and Mark Mitchell (Precinct 37).

State Convention Delegates At-Large had 12 people running with nine being elected. They were Mark Timmons, Joe Root, Wanda Mitchell, Josh Uitts, Cindi Bush Davis, Joseph Bookwalter, Tina Stock, Susan Bush Marshall and Carl Chezem.

These results are the eight vote centers, along with absentee and early voting. Provisionals were not included in the vote totals listed so these results are all unofficial. A total of 4,367 or 22.01 percent voted in this election.
