Margaret M. ‘Peg’ Eldridge

Goodwin Funeral Home

With hearts full of love and gratitude for every moment we had with her, we announce the passing of the greatest grandmother, mother, and family compass the world has ever known. Margaret Mae “Peg” Eldridge, of Frankfort, passed March 19, 2025 at her home. But after her grandkids were born, Peg became Gumpy.  Gumpy wasn’t just the matriarch of our family—she was our steady hand, our source of laughter, and the biggest fan in the stands. Nothing brought her more joy than watching her grandsons play baseball, cheering them on with a level of dedication that rivaled any coach. She was passionate, fiercely loyal, and always made sure the people she loved knew they were supported—whether in the stands, in life, or anywhere in between.

Gumpy was an educator, both in the classroom and in life. She had a way of making people feel seen, understood, and capable of more than they believed. Whether she was teaching a student, giving her grandchildren life advice, or simply sharing her wisdom over coffee, she left people better than she found them. She was sharp, funny, and never sugarcoated the truth—but always made sure you knew you were loved.

She was also a devoted wife to the love of her life, Harris. Their love was the kind that people search for—full of laughter, partnership, and a deep, unwavering bond. They built a life together that was rich in love, family, and an unshakable sense of home.

But Gumpy’s impact didn’t stop at her family. She had a way of leaving an imprint on everyone who crossed her path. Whether it was a stranger who needed kindness, a friend who needed a laugh, or someone who simply needed to hear the truth (delivered with just the right amount of sass), she made people better simply by knowing her.

Her love, her humor, and her wisdom will echo in our hearts forever. We’ll miss her voice, her hugs, and the way she always seemed to have the answers. But most of all, we’ll miss the way she made the world feel a little safer, a little funnier, and a whole lot more filled with love.  Rest easy, Gumpy. You were our rock, our compass, and our greatest gift.

She is survived by her husband, Harris, daughters, Jane Ann (Dave) Lowe of Carmel, Amy Lynn (Aaron) Gordon of Indianapolis, son, Michael David (Susan) Eldridge of Cutler, grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) McCorkle, Seth (Bailey) Eldridge, Alex & Will Eldridge, great grandchildren, Korben, Kelce and Harper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George & Anna (Prohosky) Lowman, and a brother, George Lowman.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St. Frankfort.  A private graveside service will take place in Green Lawn Cemetery.  Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com, where you may leave a condolence.
