Leona L. Skiles, 87, of Rossville, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the home of her daughter. She was born November 20, 1936, in Clinton County to Elmer and Mary (Yoder) Shively. She married Meredith Joe Skiles on January 19, 1957. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2017.
Leona was a lifetime resident of Clinton County and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed taking care for her family and glad to help others as she could. She was a faithful member of Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church until her passing.
Leona is survived by her three sons, Verlin (Beth) Skiles, Leland (Elaine) Skiles and Brian (Rebecca) Skiles, all of Rossville; two daughters, Carol Miller of Kennewick, Washington and Karen (Doug) Diehl of Delphi; 24 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Patty) Shively and sister, Marie Baker; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Sarver and Shirley Shively.
Along with her husband, Meredith, she was preceded in passing by her parents, one grandson, Jordan Lee Skiles; brothers, Clarence (Esther), Glen (Roberta), Alvin and Jesse Shively; and sisters Elsie (Warren) Shuck, Dorothy (Daniel) Metzger, and Doris (Glen) Callaway; and brothers-in-law, Walter Blocher, Art Baker, and John Sarver.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 2-5pm and 6-8pm at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 29, at 10am at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will follow at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Cemetery. Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville is assisting with the services.
