The Lebanon Fire Department and Lebanon Police Department entered the water of the pond at Countryside Drive after reports were received of a vehicle submersed within the water with the driver remaining inside.
On Monday, June 17 just before 1:45 p.m., Lebanon Fire Department crews from engine 212, engine 211 and battalion 201 were reportedly dispatched to a report of a vehicle within the retention pond of Countryside Drive.
According to the department, when crews arrived, the vehicle remained within the retention pond and the driver was located inside the vehicle, which prompted Lebanon Police and Lebanon Fire personnel to enter the water and attempt to extract the driver from the vehicle.
Upon entering the water, crew members reportedly breached the passenger compartment of the vehicle through the rear liftgate before the crews were able to make contact with the driver, who was stuck within the vehicle. Crews reported that the driver was conscious and alert during the initial contact.
Crews sprung into action to disentangle and extricate the driver through the rear of the vehicle prior to the passenger compartment of the vehicle filling with water, authorities say.
Crews confirmed that there were no additional passengers within the vehicle during the extrication, and the driver was relocated to the shore before Boone County EMS crews assumed patient care and transported the driver for further evaluation, police report.
Zores Towing reportedly responded to the scene and removed the vehicle from the retention pond with assistance from engine 212 personnel.
No injuries were reported by first responders regarding the incident.
