Joseph Bohdan

Joseph Bohdan, age 81, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life marked by service, hard work, curiosity, and adventure.

Born on February 12, 1945 in Berlin, Germany, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Eva Korzeniewski (née Stanko) and the late Joseph Bohdan. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Joseph Bohdan; his sister, Naja Maltezos; his brother-in-law, George Maltezos; and his brother-in-law, Richard Hrabe.

At the age of four, he immigrated to the United States with his family. They first settled in Philadelphia before making their home in Chicago, where Joe spent his formative years and built the foundation for a remarkable life. He pursued higher education and earned his degree at Northeastern Illinois University.

Joe proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran. Following his military service, Joe took time to travel abroad, embracing opportunities to explore new places, learn about different cultures, and satisfy his passion for discovery.

Throughout his life, Joe was known for his strong work ethic. He spent many years working in the construction industry before fulfilling his dream of owning a neighborhood bar. As a bar owner, Joe became a familiar face to many, creating a welcoming place where friendships were formed and stories were shared. He operated the business until his retirement, after which he relocated to Indiana to enjoy a quieter pace of life.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Luba Hrabe; his nieces and nephew, Louis (Rita) Maltezos, Michele Millan, Kim (Sam) Nasca, and Chantel (Joey) Jamrosz; and his cherished great-nieces and great-nephews, Samantha Maltezos, Henry Maltezos, Sammy (Jessica) Nasca, Jake Nasca, Nick Nasca, Marco Nasca, Anthony Nasca, Harry Millan, Alex Millan, Harper Jamrosz, and Parker Jamrosz, along with many friends who will miss him dearly.

Joe will be remembered for his independent spirit, kindness, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. His memory will live on in the stories shared by those who knew and loved him.
