John Paul Walker, 78, of Frankfort, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at St. Vincent Ascension Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Frankfort on November 25, 1947, to Giles Maurice and Barbara Jean (Pritchett) Walker. He married Jane Lee Michael on June 16, 1966, and she survives.
John was a graduate of Clinton Central High School, class of 1965. He then went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. When John returned, he worked for his father at Titus Petroleum. He then began his electrician apprenticeship and became an electrician with Union IBEW 481 in Indianapolis. Over the years he also worked at the Indianapolis Airport, the Town of Kirklin Wastewater Treatment, as Town Marshall of Kirklin, and GM Walker and Sons Heating and Cooling. Lastly, he worked for Marten House Hotel until his retirement in 2014. John attended Scotland Christian Church, was a member of Clinton County Antique Tractor Club and the Clinton County Amateur Radio Operators Association. He enjoyed walking and playing with his goats, fishing, camping, and going boating. He was a witty, “grumpy old man,” that enjoyed the simple things and life. He loved time with his family, especially memories in Walden Woods camping.
Along with his wife of 60 years, John is survived by his children, Justina (Scott) Charles, Jason (Jill) Walker, and Jennifer (Mark) Harshbarger; sister, Barbara Trenary; brothers, Mark (Diane) Walker, Ken (Karen) Walker, David (Melanie) Walker; grandchildren, Kaylee, Brady, Davis, Levi, Rachael, Mason; and great grandchildren, Colter, Tynsley, Beckett, Joseph, Mackenzie, Carson, Chloe, Elijah, and one on the way.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service will be held with the public being invited to join the family as they gather at the family farm for John’s last goat watch and a cookout on Saturday, August 22, 2026, starting at 4pm. Please ring your lawn chairs and memories of John. Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting with the arrangements. He will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery.
