Joe Dean Sibray

Joe Dean Sibray, 94, of Indianapolis, formerly of Flora, passed away at his home, Wednesday, May 1, 2024.  He was born January 28, 1930, in Flora to Charles Milford and Hannah Opal (Beougher) Sibray.

Joe was a 1948 graduate of Odon High School.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  When he returned, he went to work for Conrail for over 30 years until his retirement. After his retirement he worked odd jobs keeping himself busy.  He enjoyed being outside and love spending time around the campfire.  He enjoyed gardening and landscaping in his backyard and took pride in how he decorated his yard.  If he wasn’t out in his backyard, he could be found sitting on the front porch with his neighbors Rick, Shannon and Jeff enjoying some laughter and great conversation. He was a lover of pugs, especially his pug, Milton.

Joe was survived by his nieces, Cheryl “Sherry” (Ted) Donoho of Culter, Beth Ann (Anthony) Tweedy of Jeffersonville, Holly Sibray of Jeffersonville, Amy Schmitt of Jeffersonville; great nieces and nephews, Jennifer Bottorf, Jill Sciortino, Jason Sibray, James Sibray, Kyle Sibray, Chad Donoho, and Joshua Tweedy; several great-great nieces and nephews; and close friends Rick and Shannon Glassley and Jeff Burk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert L. Sibray, Charles M. Sibray, Jr., and Jerry L. Sibray; sister, Carol Lee Sibray; and nephews, Tony Stephen, Justin Tweedy; and niece, Carla Bourne.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 12pm until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Reinke Chapel in Flora.  Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s honor to your local humane society.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
