Toes will tap as the Lafayette Symphony presents “The B-Side, Track 2: Vine Street Syncopators,” a New Orleans-style jazz band, on Thursday, September 21, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Rat Pak Venue in downtown Lafayette.
Led by clarinetist Randy Salman, a favorite of LSO patrons, The Vine Street Syncopators, deliver a dose of traditional or “hot” jazz that will transport you straight to the heart of the Big Easy. The band, based in the Champaign-Urbana, IL area, consists of Salman, recently retired from the LSO, on clarinet; Jeff Helgesen, trumpet; Barry Wagner, trombone; Steve Meadows, banjo; and Josh Houchin, bass.
The B-Side: Where Innovation Meets Informality
The innovative B-Side nightclub series brings audiences up-close and personal with LSO ensembles. This concert series is curated by the musicians themselves, offering a unique blend of passion, creativity, and artistry in a non-traditional concert setting. “The B-Side, Track 2: Vine Street Syncopators” promises to be a journey that bridges the gap between past and present, as well as between performers and audience.
