The Indiana USAR Task Force #1, which includes members of the West Central Indiana region, was deployed over the weekend with 49 members traveling to Kentucky to help with historic flooding levels.
The team was activated as a Type 3 Search and Rescue Team with water rescue assets to assist with flood response efforts. The team officially arrived in eastern Kentucky on Sunday where they became engaged in assisting Pike and Martin Counties, which is currently dealing with historic flooding.
The team stated that the temperatures were in the low 30’s with snow flurries when they arrived on the scene. The team will remain as their services are needed in the state.
