The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association launched its Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship for Hoosiers who intend to pursue a career in law enforcement through a college degree with a deadline of April 1 this year, and chosen scholarship winners received their awards as the school year concluded.
Every year, the Association seeks to award the scholarships to qualified high schools seniors or college students pursuing a degree in criminal justice studies. Approximately 40 scholarships of $750 were awarded to qualifying students throughout the state.
The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Fund was originally established for the purpose of receiving, investing and dispensning funds for college scholarships for those planning to enter a career in law enforcement.
For 2025, qualifying students must be Indiana residents, must be a current member of the association or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member of the association, must attend an Indiana college or university, must pursue a major in law enforcement and must enroll as a full-time student with 12 or more credit hours per semester.
Applications may be obtained from high school counselors or the local Sheriff’s Office every year. The scholarship can also be downloaded from the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association website at indianasheriffs.org. The applications typically open at the beginning of the year.
When the scholarship application opens, the paperwork may be picked up at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at 1905 Indianapolis Ave. in Lebanon.
