Following the deployment of the Indiana USAR Task Force #1 over the weekend to the State of Kentucky, the team has reported that they have officially been demobilized from the Eastern Kentucky floods as of Thursday, Feb. 20.
The State of Kentucky announced that it has transitioned from rescue to stabilization, which led to the demobilization of the task force who was working alongside local and state search and rescue assets to aid those affected by the floodwaters.
With the combined force, the teams were able to rescue and evacuate numerous residents from the floodwaters that have impacted the region.
“We are truly grateful for the collaboration and camaraderie we experienced with so many dedicated individuals committed to helping those in need,” the task force released. “Our hearts go out to all those affected by this disaster, and we pray for a swift recovery for the community.”
IN-TF1 includes Whitestown Fire Department Captain Nathan Joseph, who aided with operating a rescue boat during the deployment.
