Huge Crowd Attends Chamber of Commerce Luncheon at Arborwood

Clinton County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shan Sheridan probably said it best when asked his thoughts about the annual event Thursday afternoon at Arborwood.

“It’s always a great day for the award winners,” said Sheridan. “We had educators, small business, large business, HR (Human Resources) people. The Citizen of the Year, Mary Kay Baker, just fantastic.  You couldn’t have picked a better one. Mary Lynn Peter is just an outstanding example of a great volunteer in our community.”

The Chamber handed out several different awards, including the Educator of the Year for the five schools in the county. Those winners were Maggie Henderson (Clinton Central), Hillary Guffy (Clinton Prairie), Heidi Wetherald (Frankfort Christian Academy), Zach Golden (Frankfort Crossing) and Angie Bogan (Rossville).

Other individual winners were Mary Lynn Peter (LeRoy Good Volunteer of the Year), Ana Hernandez (Chamber Board Member of the Year), Mary Kay Baker (Clinton County Citizen of the Year) and Kim Ray (Human Resources Manager of the Year).

Businesses honored were Wesley Manor (Non-Profit), Donaldson Company (Human Resource Team),  Frankfort Discount Emporium (Small Business of the Year), Indiana Packers (Large Business of the Year) and Lawn Tamer — Gary and Lisa Crum (Agri-Business of the Year).

At the end of the program, Chamber President Wanda Mitchell said she was stepping down from her post after two years. Steve Walter was named as the new Chamber President.

“Another great event,” said Sheridan. “2024. Our theme this year is Imagination and I think the idea of being able to imagine what we want to be. I love the quote, ‘Let’s imagine.’ Let’s not imagine what is or what it has been. Let’s imagine what we want to create.'”

A total of 168 people attended the event.
