
Homer J. “Butch” Beckner, 69, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. He was born on October 7, 1956, in Lafayette to Charles O. and Margaret A. (Fry) Beckner. He married Trudy Cheesman on November 23, 2001, and she survives.
Butch was a graduate of Harrison High School, class of 1975. He worked several jobs over his years, including, JD Jackson & Associate as a home builder, Basney Ford in Lafayette, General Foods, Bev-Pack and then Frito-Lay for 28 years until his retirement in 2019. Butch was a member of Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol Club where he enjoyed participating in shooting competitions. He also enjoyed fishing, Scuba diving, golfing, and hunting. He loved being around his family, especially his grandkids and going to their sporting events. Butch had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke around and laugh with people. He enjoyed life and was known to relax with a strawberry margarita from time to time. His laugh and joyful spirit will be missed by those that knew him.
Along with his wife of nearly 25 years, Butch is survived by his daughter, Christy (Kai) Davner; son, Jeremiah Beckner; step-children, Chad (Natalie) Hodgen, Evan (Kristin) Hodgen; sister, Lucille (Steve Harlan) Beckner; brother Richard “Rick” Beckner; grandchildren, Lincoln and Lillian Burton; and step-grandchildren, Danielle, Taylor, Hannah, Ellie, Layla, and Ben.
Butch was preceded in passing by his parents; sister-in-law, Connie Beckner; and brother-in-law, Rudy Cheesman.
Visitation will be held, Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
