Frankfort Police Investigate Threat at Frankfort High School

Press Release from Frankfort Police Department

On February 10, 2026, at approximately 12:30 pm., an off-duty Frankfort Police Officer working for the Community Schools of Frankfort as a school resource officer requested additional officers to the Frankfort High School for a threat involving a weapon. School officials had been alerted to a student with a weapon in a classroom. The school resource officer and school officials immediately went to that classroom to find it empty. They then located the student in the lunchroom. Additional officers quickly arrived while the school resource officer was detaining the student who was reported to have made the threat.
School officials and officers are investigating the incident. Preliminary information reveals that there was never a threat made to any person or the facility by this student. While we are aware that photographs of officers running into the school as well as photographs of the student that was detained were posted online, we cannot control that. That student was only detained due to the information officers had at that time. The student will not be charged with a crime at this time.
The response by the school resource officer, responding Frankfort Police Officers and school officials was appropriate for the type of threat made. Officers ran into a rapidly evolving situation where it was perceived an immediate threat was made against students and/or teachers. That threat was found to be false.
