Frankfort Police Announces Promotions, Appointments, Awards

The Frankfort Police Department announced several significant promotions, appointment and awards within the ranks with a celebration of those receiving the honors being recognized on Tuesday evening.

For Lieutenant promotions, the department saw Sergeants Brett Dale and Zachary Nichols be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant effective July 8.

“Both officers have been integral to the Frankfort Police Department’s Field Training Program as trainers and are also part of the Clinton County SWAT Team and serve as trainers within different aspects of the Frankfort Police Department,” the department released.

For K9 Handler appointments, officers Ethan Cunningham and Jack Bond were appointed as the newest K9 handlers for the Frankfort Police Department as they prepare to continue their service to the community alongside a K9. The new handlers will begin a 6-week training program beginning Sept. 23.

“Both officers have contributed significantly to the K9 division’s training efforts, and we look forward to seeing them and their canine partners on the streets of Frankfort soon,” the department released.

Awards were also distributed to multiple members of the department team, including Officer of the Year, Medal of Bravery and Police Meritorious Achievement Medal.

Detective Joshua Danner was named as the Officer of the Year this year for his dedication to the community and continued passion for justice and law enforcement.

“Detective Danner was recognized for his exceptional performance and leadership, including his involvement with the Indiana Crimes Against Children Taskforce and his dedication to community service activities such as coaching Clinton County Special Olympics athletes,” the department released.

Medals of Bravery were also presented to Lieutenant Joshua Ruben and Officer Cristofer Alconedo for their actions during a water rescue on Nov. 19, 2023.

“Both officers displayed bravery by entering frigid waters to rescue a solo occupant from a submerged vehicle in the city lagoons,” the department released.

Code Enforcement Officer Ed Russell was presented with the Police Meritorious Achievement Medal for his contributions to the department in 2023.

“Officer Russell’s efforts went above and beyond his normal duties, ensuring operational continuity and support during personnel shortages,” the department released.

The department released a concluding statement regarding the promotions, appointments and presentations of awards, stating that the dedicated honorees showcase the mission of the department in the community.

“These announcements reflect the Frankfort Police Department’s commitment to recognizing exemplary service, promoting leadership and enhancing public safety through specialized roles within the Frankfort Police Department.
