Four Boone County Schools Receive Over $267,000 In School Safety Grant Funding

Four Boone County schools recently received more than $267,000 for safety upgrades through the State’s Secured School Safety Grant Program.

State Representative for Zionsville Becky Cash stated that the funding stands as part of the State’s biennial budget passed in 2023, and the budget was created to implement significant investments in school safety for Hoosier schools. The grants expanded to 499 schools across Indiana’s 92 counties, totaling $24 million in state matching grants.

“Safety concerns in schools are always shifting, but these grants give our school administrators the flexibility and means to enact quality safety plans for students and staff,” Cash said. “As a mother and member of the community, this issue remains a top priority, and we’ll continue to look for ways to build on the state’s efforts.”

In total, Lebanon Community School Corporation received $81,100, Traders Point Christian Academy received $64,800, Western Boone Community Schools received $40,500 and Zionsville Community Schools received $81,000 for school safety improvements.

The funding is expected to benefit the schools by providing the necessary means to implement a variety of safety needs, such as resource officers, equipment and technology, active-event warning systems, threat assessments and student and parent support services programs.
